School Session May 30, 2006 to June 23, 2006

Week 1
Activities
|
Personal Health Safety,
sign language, stock market introduction, played basketball,
volleyball, kickball. Went for walk around cemetery looking for
nails. Had a scavenger hunt around town. Winning team of students
earned ice cream cone at the Sisters and Friends restaurant.
Ended the week with field trip to Nevada theater to see RV and had lunch at the park
.

Week 2
Activities
|
Personal
health safety, candy making, purchased stock in stock market, made
paper airplanes, played volleyball and basketball. Enjoyed
popcorn while watching Glory Road
movie. Ended the week with going to the Kansas City Zoo.

Week 3
Activities
|
Students
learned how to make different styles of candles and votive candles,
along with making scented soaps. Students also got the chance to
make tie-dye handkerchiefs and shirts. Last week students
purchase "stock" in the stock market, so this week groups were checking
to see who was earning and losing money. Some even traded in the
stock that was purchased last week and re-purchased. They also
began making group webpages. Below are links to the group
webpages.
VOLLEYBALL, VOLLEYBALL, VOLLEYBALL, was played almost daily along with
basketball. The teams and the kids seem to be having fun.
The end of the week was wrapped up with a visit to the waterpark in
Nevada.

| Week 4
Activities |
This week students learned how to square dance, make apple quesidas,
and home-made ice cream. Serveral students learned the feeling of
making AND losing money on the stock market. The best overall
performing stock was PCAR which is a manufacturer of Peterbilt
trucks--it was purchased for $73.91 on June 7 and sold for $79.61 on
June 21, just 14 days after the student purchased that stock earned
$1995. A scavenger hunt and movie was also watched during
the week. The worse performing purchase stock was General Mills.
The students ended the week with a trip to Worlds of Fun.

websites that they found to link to.
